Job Description:
Assists with a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled duties
related to maintenance of Metro's facilities. Works under the
direction of a supervisor. Example of Duties: Assists with grounds
work, including watering, mowing, repair of landscape damage; mixes
and applies herbicides, adjusts, repairs, and installs sprinkler
system piping and valves up to 4-inch supply systems. Performs snow
removal activities. Assists with office maintenance repair work
such as replacing lamps, door maintenance/repair, toilet and sink
removal/repair, ice machine maintenance/repair, minor plumbing and
drain maintenance. Assists with manual labor such as sweeping,
mopping, shoveling, heavy lifting (and team lifting) during
equipment set up/removal, and materials handling. Assists
semi-skilled, unlicensed trades work on a regular basis in multiple
trades areas including, carpentry, locksmith, glazing, dry wall,
minor mechanical maintenance, minor plumbing, air filter changes,
painting preparation and painting. Sets up and moves offices
including the removal and installation of modular office furniture
and computers. Services and cleans automotive vehicles, weed/lawn
mowers, pressure washers, sprayers, and other equipment. Operates
computers to receive work assignments/information and report work
progress. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of: Safety
methods, processes, and procedures Skilled at: Basic maintenance
Operating basic tools and lawn equipment Ability to: Work safely in
a group with supervision Operate basic computer tasks and email
Follow verbal and written instructions Read procedures, manuals,
Safety Data Sheet precautions, parts breakdowns and work order
directions Communicate effectively orally and in writing Perform
basic arithmetic calculations Use measurement devices Perform
effectively in a collaborative team environment Think and act
strategically in an organizational "Big Picture" context Identify
problems, craft effective solutions, act decisively and demonstrate
good judgement Education, License, and Certifications Graduation
from high school or GED. Working Conditions: Work Environment While
performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to wet
and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather
conditions, and risk of electrical shock more than 2/3 of the time.
The employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work
in high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme
cold, extreme heat, high winds, and vibration 1/3 to 2/3 of the
time. The noise level in the work environment is frequently high.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the
employee is required to stand and walk more than 2/3 of the time;
to talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to
finger, handle, or feel 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee is
required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and
taste or smell less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds more than 2/3 of the time and up to 50
pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required
by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employment
